Working out the ABV of your essence

All you need to do to work out the ABV of alcohol in your bottle is multiply the percentage of alcohol by the ABV of the alcohol that you are using to make up your essences, and divide by 100.

For instance if you ware using 50% alcohol and 50 % water to make up your essences and that alcohol is 37.5% then you multiply 50 x 37.5 which gives you 1875 which makes your essence have an ABV of 18.75%.

Please be aware that 19% ABVis considered ‘biologically safe’ and that you are not supposed to post alcohol over 24% ABV with Royal Mail.
